Premarital sexuality and social effects

Though  a human being gains the physical maturity of procreation of the beginning of puberty, he/she is considered eligible for mating and reproduction much later may be after18 years and above. And also the society insists that a sexual practice outside marriage is improper and illegal at times.
Premarital sexuality is any sexual activity with an opposite sex partner before he/she has started a married life .The term is usually used to refer the intercourse before the legal age of a marriage . Adults who presumably marry fall under this definition.
Our society today do not appreciate premarital lovemaking for obvious reasons. Love making is no longer regarded as an outflow of the natural sexual instincts among human beings.  We view it as necessary obligation to share the romance  between married couples and also as a medium to fulfill the social responsibility of giving birth to the next generation .
Sexuality is not an instrument of enjoying lustful pleasure for human beings , at least in premarital sex , many a times , immature human beings explore the sexuality , just out of curiosity , and might be unaware of the consequences. Society has forbid premarital sex from the very outlook that adolescence is the time to form oneself as mature and responsible human being and not at all time to procreate.
Sex in itself is not wrong at any age ; but premarital sex may harm the mental development of adults in several forms. Premarital sexual experiences, many a times leads to the misconception that sex is to be enjoyed at whatever ways possible.  Forced premarital sex love making will lead to mental depression and dilemma .Another danger is one possible exchange of diseases , as premarital partners may not be aware of diseases spread through intercourse. Getting pregnant through premarital sex is another disaster . Emotional imbalances and guilt feelings  could be the result of most premarital sexual affairs.
Premarital sex is not approved by any right thinking society , yet, stories come of adolescent fathers and mothers  come out largely especially from highly civilized society. Modern life style has opened multiple opportunities for boys and girls to interact closely and deeply in publicly and private. They have have ample chances to experiment the sexuality which they witness through internet and  Televisions .
Laws can be made only to threaten people , but can never make them to not do something . The most effective way of defending premarital lovemaking is the spread of awareness of healthy sexuality among children . Awareness of healthy sexuality is not all the knowledge of safe sexuality. Train them to mingle with opposite sex in mature way. Inspire them with mutual respect between man and woman. From the very  childhood itself a baby should learn to accept people as men and women , the equal partners of life on earth not as object to fulfill lusty wishes and ambitions.

African Traditional Marriage System

In  every society there is always a system  and pattern of life which makes it a unique society. In Africa and around the entire black nation cultural values and system  are held in high esteem especially with issues concerning child birth marriage  etc.
However, I will be discussing the traditional marriage system in  Africa, a major step meant to be taken by the Groom before the white wedding . There are basically three types of marriage which include: Traditional  Marriage , Court Marriage and  White Wedding. As defined by some experts it is the union between a man and a woman for the purpose of procreation. Hence , traditional  marriage from other perspective is the local marriage between two different individuals either of the same language  or the other way round. It is the most exciting and important kind of marriage in Africa as it indicates responsibility, maturity, love and care.
Before the Groom will be allowed to meet with the Bride , his family will have to pay the bridal price with some other items that will be used to entertain guest . In this process four titled men from both families are seated in a secluded area within the compound of the  Bride whispering the amount that needs to be paid as bridal price, without which the Groom is considered irresponsible.
Moreover , it is a way of giving honor to the Parents of the Bride for having raised their daughter well  and at the same time a show of style to the Groom . Africans takes it seriously when it comes to traditional marriage especially with female. The different attires in this marriage is very flamboyant in dressing and in all activities , in short  Africans takes this as the really marriage.
During the event there is always the traditional breaking of kola nut done be an elderly person from the community , who invokes the blessings of fruitfulness and fertility by calling on their forefathers to protect the newly married from dangers and infertility. At this point a local wine is served to the Bride for her to locate the Groom with it , which if she does gives him a sip out of it indicating him to be her real  and true husband.
The local dish is also n important aspect as guests are entertained with it with local music as well.

Violation of Human Rights

Human  Rights are basic rights that occurs to all human beings or Citizens , whatever nationality , place of residence , sex , national or ethnic origin , color , religion , language or any other status . We are legally entitled to our human rights without discrimination or prejudice.
It is also an articulation of justice , tolerance, mutual respect for human dignity . They are those basic standards without which people cannot live together in unity. It becomes pertinent therefore to understand that to violate the right of an individual  is to deny him his freedom from what is right  and just.
All human rights are indivisible , whether they are civil or political rights , such as right to life to life , equality before the law and freedom of expression ; economic , social and cultural rights, such as the right to work , social security and education, or collective rights , such as the right to development and self resolve, are indivisible , interrelated and interdependent .  The upgrade  of one right facilitates the advancement of others . Likewise the the withdrawal  of one adversely affects the others.
Human Rights is still more of an illusion than a reality.  Violations still exist everyday in various parts of the world . For example in 2009 the  World Report  of Amnesty International and that of other sources  indicates that  individuals are:  Tortured or abused in at least 81 countries,  Face unfair justice and trials in at least 54 countries,   Limited in their freedom of expression in at least 77 countries
However, women and children in particular are mostly victims , the press is not free in many countries, and dissenters are silenced , too often permanently.
In 2007 for instance an estimated  6,500 people were killed in conflict in Afghanistan - nearly being non combatant civilian  death at the hand of insurgents .  Hundreds were also killed in suicide attacks by armed groups.
In Brazil also police killed at least 1, 2600 individuals - the highest  total in 2007 . A ll incidents were officially labelled  " act of resistance and received little or no investigation.
In Africa Uganda precisely , 1,500 people die each week in the internally displaced camps . According to  the World Health Organization , 500,000 have died in these camps. Looking at all these  and many more the question that comes to mind will be ; how can true justice be  delivered  and protected in a system that  has no respect for human dignity?

Mass Media and Society

In past times the media influence on society  has grown  widely with advances in technology, first was the  telegraph,  then the radio, the newspaper, magazines, television and now the internet with other social media networks.
We are living in an environment that depends on communication and information to keep moving in the right direction  and do our normal daily work , entertainment  health care, education , personal relationship, traveling and anything else we have to do
An individual who wakes up early in the city normally checks the  tv news, or newspaper, goes to work makes contacts through phone calls, eats  with his family when possible and makes decisions based on information that he has either from coworkers , news, tv, friends financial reports etc
What we need to understand is that most of our decisions , beliefs and values  are based on the fact of what we we know for fact , our assumptions and our experience in our work we usually know what we have to do based on  our experience and studies, however our daily lives depends on the media to get current news and facts about what is happening and what we should be aware of.
We have to put our trust on  the media as an authority to give news , entertainment and education . However, the influence of mass media teenagers , kids and society is so significant that we should know how it  really works.

Selective Perception

Each individual has  the right to perceive according to personal choice  ; he equally reserves the right to where  his attention will be focused and where it should not . Perception  can  operate at  a first stage of seeing and hearing or at the second stage understanding and interpreting. Common knowledge or experience of an individual will determine whether  he will operate at the first o stage of perception.
However, the major factor that accounts mostly for changes in the individual  and his pattern of perception is his/ her Psychological disposition . It is this therefore that accounts  for why a happy individual of this minute becomes an angry individual of the next minute;this also accounts for different perceptions to entertainment program by two class mates possibly of the same age . From my understanding therefore it becomes wrong to take individuals and their perceptions for granted . Perception change as individual change.
Since no two individuals are alike; and no individual  is the same all the time it is reasonable enough to consider some factors that determine response patterns. The factors include : Selective exposure, Selective Perception, Selective Attention and Selective Retention.
Not every one can be exposed to all the media . Because of this , the individual , as a matter of choice and decision , selectively determines the medium to be exposed to .Television medium may be chosen  because of the twin advantages of audio and visual characteristics; the radio may be selected by yet another individual for the reason of each; Newspapers may be selected because of the quality having details. In essence therefore , any decision taken to reach a large number of individuals within a society must then entail the use of  a combination of media to ensure that varying interests are met by the media . The gratification level of individual is determined by the extent to which his felt needs have been met by the media.
